In the US Millions of Infants & Toddlers Given Psychiatric Drugs for No Reason and It’s Deadly

Pharmanation, USA — Suicide, birth defects, heart problems, hostility, violence, aggression, hallucinations, self-harm, delusional thinking, homicidal ideation, and death are just a few of the side effects caused by psychiatric medication.

There have been 150 studies in seventeen countries on antidepressant-induced side effects. There have been 134 drug regulatory agency warnings from eleven countries and the EU warning about the dangerous side effects of antidepressants.

Despite this deadly laundry list of potential reactions to these medications, the use of antidepressants has skyrocketed by 400% since 1988.

Currently, 11 percent of all Americans 12 years of age and over take antidepressant medication, this is a higher rate than all other countries in the world.

While the skyrocketing use of psychiatric drugs in adults is certainly worrisome, the exponential increase of use in children is downright scary.

The following information is the most accurate and documented data available on psychiatric drug usage in the United States. The information is from IMS Health, a company that provides information, services and technology for the healthcare industry. It is the largest vendor of U.S. physician prescribing data. The following data was taken from IMS Health Vector One National database Year 2013, Extracted April 2014.

The numbers are startling.

According to Dr. Allen Frances, author of Saving Normalone of the reasons we are seeing such a steep incline in American children being prescribed these drugs is that primary care physicians, not psychiatrists, are doling our these drugs like candy. According to Dr. Frances, the primary care doctor is not nearly as qualified to prescribe these drugs, and most of them are doing so based on the information given to them by entirely unqualified pharmaceutical sales reps.

The nature of the medical industry in America’s fast-paced society is similar to that of a fast food restaurant. During your doctor’s visit, you will only be in the room with the physician for around 8-minutes on average. This is hardly enough time to diagnose serious underlying mental health issues, which means you’ll get to pick from the value meal menu, and you’ll be on your way.

One Canadian and U.S. study found that doctors interrupt their patients on average within 23 seconds from the time the patient begins explaining his symptoms. In 25 percent of visits, the doctor never even asked the patient what was bothering him.

Is this primary “care”? There doesn’t seem to be any care involved at all in this doctor-patient relationship.

There are most certainly people of all ages that can benefit from certain prescription medication.

However, there are 26,000 babies under the age of 12 months who are prescribed antidepressants like Prozac and Zoloft. Another 274,000 babies under 12 months are on anti-anxiety medication such as Valium and Xanax. Between the ages of 1-5, those numbers jump up into the millions!

To top this incredible medical blunder off, these prescriptions are written off-label, meaning that there is absolutely no evidence to show that these drugs work in children. There are people out there with the letters M and D attached to the back of their names who are trusted by society. They are betraying this trust by giving 188,000 children between the ages of 0-5 ADHD medicine that is in the same class as crystal meth.

To reiterate the dangerous premise of overmedicating children in such a manner, with drugs that aren’t even proven to help them in any way, and are in fact dangerous, let’s revisit the first sentence of this article again.

Suicide, birth defects, heart problems, hostility, violence, aggression, hallucinations, self-harm, delusional thinking, homicidal ideation, and death are just a few of the side effects caused by psychiatric medication.

Aside from the known side-effects, there are incidents of the drug companies deliberately falsifying the safety data and allowing a known dangerous drug to be given to children. For years, GlaxoSmithKline was illegally persuading doctors to prescribe paroxetine, sold under the brand name Paxil, as an antidepressant for children and teenagers.

GSK used contrived data, known as Study 329, which was conducted and funded by the drug company and published in 2001, to convince the doctors to write scripts. The study made the claim that Paxil is “well tolerated and effective” for kids. Their bolstered claims worked, and in 2002 alone, doctors wrote two million Paxil prescriptions for children and adolescents.

However, a study published in the British Medical Journal this year suggests that not only was Paxil ineffective but it was causing grave side-effects such as self-harm and suicide.

Let that sink in.

Not only are doctors handing out psychoactive drugs like candy at the behest of their drug sales reps, but the drug manufacturers are lying about the dangers.

We have no way of knowing the long-term societal impact of millions of children being irresponsibly given potentially dangerous psychoactive medication as this is a relatively new path Americans have embarked down.

The website SSRIstories.org does, however, provide a potential glimpse into the future of a country hellbent on medicating infants with psychiatric drugs. The database is a collection of over 6,000 stories that have appeared in the media (newspapers, TV, scientific journals) in which prescription drugs were mentioned and in which the drugs may be linked to a variety of adverse outcomes including violence.

But it’s not all doom and gloom, there is the good news. All of this overmedication, all of the drugs being given to children, all of it is voluntary — for now anyway. This entire massive overmedication epidemic could and should stop overnight through simply spreading the information.

The mother who allows her 8-month-old child to be prescribed antidepressants only does so out of ignorance. We can only better ourselves as humans and as individuals through seeking a lesser ignorance.

Please share this article with your friends and family to empower them with knowledge while at the same time exposing such a dangerous practice.

  • If you think this needs to stop please (Y) + Comment + Share this information.

  • the reason is crooked doctors paid off by big pharma

  • OMG, what are we doing

  • Have anyone asked Mr. Gates? maybe HE knows the long-term impact

  • and no way of fighting them thanks to TPP and the now Planet earth PLC

  • We are just beginning to see the impact. Grade school kids getting diabetes, lactating and actually becoming psychotic from the meds. Teens becoming violent. Majority of mass shooters were on some of these drugs. Then completely med dependent adults making huge profits for drug companies and creating a world of either depersonalized numb individuals or psychotic violent individuals. Stop treating normal childhood brain development variance as mental illness with drugs.

  • Follow the money.

  • They are a lucrative source of cash flow. Not children.

  • what !!!!

  • No we don’t.. Stop the cycle…Amen

  • Soooo…. y’all give your kids this shit but won’t vaccinate them??? YOUR A SPECIAL KIND OF STUPID, HUH??????????????????????

  • I thought he was being sarcastic.

  • To depress or suppress a developing mind is absolutely insane.
We all know it’s for cash so is isn’t insane, it’s just another disgusting business.
I feel sorry for parents that for some reason other are led to feel that this is the answer. Distressing when we think about what we’re doing to the future.

  • funny I just started watching this…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgCpa1RlSdQ

  • I think we are seeing the cost today, read the news

  • that’s the whole idea , they don’t want miserable people who don’t follow instructions

  • shared

  • We need to take medicine out of the hands of Greed. Not anyone can tell what’s good for their kids or not. And A doctor handing out Deadly drugs to kids is like Police shooting the innocent.

  • I wonder how many of these mass shooters have been on these medications?

  • Ahh, the US in the spotlight again. Not only the nation known to sue anyone over anything, but has more people on pysch’ drugs that the entire world put together. Marsh-mellow madness. Many just needed their bottom smacked 😉

  • Thanks for an eye-opening article.

  • no reason.. other than population control and profit.

  • Been saying that for years.

  • For babies too?
    This is truly frightening.

Big Pharma at it again, of course, supported by the political agenda: they must be sheeple..

But stepping back a little, one must ask why so many are depressed.

  • and this boys and girls is why we have a mass shooting every other day here we whack people out of thiergourds call it ment al health and then blame the gun when they crack and go beserk

  • sick

  • Yeah because it’s doctors MO to prescribe drugs for no reasons.

By no reasons means reasons you don’t agree with…. what it seems like.

More biased reporting from those that bitch about how bias mainstream media is.

    That irony.

  • As a parent regardless of what a doctor says I would never give my children drugs Period. Drug companies are truly evil they want to get u addicted and full of toxic chemicals. Think natural products if anything for yourself not for your kids.
