There is no question that police treat black and white people differently. Statistics across the board, from the length of prison sentences to the frequency of stops, show that black males get the short end of stick the majority of the time.

To highlight this well-known stereotype, an internet pranking group, Simple Misfits, conducted an experiment. First a ‘white guy’ would attempt to break into a car in broad daylight. For 30 minutes he was able to operate unmolested as he jammed a coat hanger wire in and out of a car door in an effort to break in.

A police officer even drove by and didn’t even look twice! Eventually he stopped and it was now time for the ‘black guy.’ Within just 2 minutes, police were on the scene, guns drawn and making arrests.

Crime is crime, why is it that it is so easily overlooked when the perpetrator is white? Some of the most heinous crimes in history have been carried out by white men in suits, yet the common criminal stereotype is a black guy in a hoodie…
