This video is incredibly frustrating to watch. It was submitted to us via our “submit your story” link.

From start to finish we see a jackboot thug seething with authority, conducting a barrage of rights violating procedures.

The man in the video, RJ Alden, did make some serious mistakes in the beginning that may have prevented this entire situation.

“Where are you coming from tonight?” — “I’m not going to answer any questions. Am I free to go?” — would have been the proper responses.

“What’s in the backpack?” — “I’m not going to answer any questions. Am I being detained? Am I free to go?” — would have been the proper responses.

“I’m gonna search your car!” — “Not without a warrant.” — would have been the proper response.

However, Peter Behler, the jackboot officer in this video, may have escalated the situation to violence despite the victim knowing all their rights and responses. Behler has a history of brutality, he was indicted in December for a different set of excessive force charges.

Here is the unedited dashcam footage from that night. Try not to break your screen in anger.
