MSNBC Just Admitted: “Our Job” Is To “Control Exactly What People Think”

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski just erased any lingering doubts the corporate press serves almost wholly to vomit propaganda in order to control public perception, in a rather stupefying statement during an exchange with Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough about President Trump possibly “trying to undermine the media.”

“Exactly. That is exactly what I hear,” Scarborough stated. “What Yamiche said is what I hear from all the Trump supporters that I talk to who were Trump voters and are still Trump supporters. They go, ‘Yeah you guys are going crazy. He’s doing — what are you so surprised about? He is doing exactly what he said he is going to do.’”

“Well, I think that the dangerous, you know,” Brzezinski replied, “edges here are that he is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that, that is our job.”

Pause and consider what Brzezinski actually said — whether or not the latter sentence constituted a Freudian slip.

A corporate media presstitute — whose game of career musical chairs saw her leaving mainstream, right-wing Fox News for mainstream, left-wing MSNBC — just told the American public it’s the media’s job to “control exactly what people think.”

That statement comprises the most blatant — if perhaps tacit — evidence pro-U.S. government propaganda measures passed with the 2017 NDAA have already begun.

Mass media has for decades entrenched itself surreptitiously on the side of the ruling political establishment, using the tool of feigned neutrality to manipulate the public into thinking its reports aren’t thoroughly infused with whatever the current agenda might be.

Apparently Brzezinski and her corporate press ilk finally feel the same looming threat of censorship burdening alternative and independent outlets, which have experienced as much throughout the last election cycle. What they conveniently forget, however, is Trump salivating over media control differs negligibly from calls by the same mainstream outlets during that election season not to give credence to information revealed by Wikileaks — nor to disseminate the (accurate) reports based on those documents proffered by alternative media.

Indeed, this dissonant, hypocritical indignation over Trump’s unmistakable effort to tailor information to suit his agenda, however justified the observation is, handily demarcates a battle between the old guard of corporate media turned government mouthpiece and the new guard of an authoritarian administration testing limits of information control.

Two arms of the same arrogant censor.

But censorship of the free press has been a grave concern of independent media for months, as corporate outlets scampered to deem any reporting on multiple scandals involving the DNC and candidate Hillary Clinton ‘fake news’ — or even Russian propaganda — no matter the proven validity of the information.

That soft censorship might have suited the interests of the previous political establishment’s favored narrative — and provided a comfortable impunity for mainstream press to sanctimoniously skewer independent reporting — but the lack of foresight the oppression would eventually come full circle to apply across the board is laughable.

Perhaps MSNBC and other behemoth organizations underestimated the extreme executive powers former President Obama bequeathed to Trump — as well as Trump’s leeway in implementing more.

MSNBC’s offense at the manipulation of facts and fictions rings hollow when it and other mainstream outlets evince an established pattern of the same. That’s at least fairly close to — if not exactly — the pot calling the kettle black.

However, pointing out astonishing hypocrisy in demands for soft and hard censorship could these days be a new sport, the examples happen with such frequency. Instead, both sides — the corporate press and the political establishment, including Trump — have ramped up the measures necessary to guarantee freedom of the press will decline in coming years without hypervigilance.

And hypervigilance is an absolute necessity, now that there is no room to deny the sordid and unseemly marriage of censorship and propaganda — facilitating control of the public mind — championed openly by corporate America’s loyal lapdogs: media and government.

This “job” wouldn’t be so easy if so many people weren’t stupid enough to believe everything they see on TV.

    • IceTrey

Your average human being just isn’t that smart. Government control has always relied on human stupidity. The ancient shamans probably thought to themselves “man these people are dumb”.

      • Steve Rusk

It’s not about “smart”, it’s about conditioning and the fact that the average citizen has no idea of just how much they are being manipulated and government isn’t always the chief culprit.

Here’s a little lite reading from the 1915 Industrial commission Report to Congress.

“Almost without exception the employees of large corporations are unorganized, as a result of the active and aggressive ‘non-union’ policy of the corporation managements”, the commission continued: Our Rockefellers, Morgans, Fricks, Vanderbilts and Astors
can do no wrong because all effective action and direct responsibility is shifted from them to executive officials…”

In addition, the commission found, the Morgans, Rockefellers, and their allies were controlling the thoughts of Americans and their lives. Through monopoly ownership of influence, the press expressed monopoly’s policies. Moreover, Wall Street was increasingly
controlling public education, as well as colleges, universities, professors and preachers through gifts, endowments and foundations.

The report continued: “The domination by the men in whose hands the final control of a large part of American industry rests is not limited to their employees, but is being rapidly extended to control the education and ‘social service’ of the Nation. This control is being rapidly extended largely through the creation of enormous privately managed funds for indefinite purposes, hereinafter designated as “foundations” by the endowment of
colleges and universities, by contributions to private charities as well as through controlling and influencing the public press…

“Incapable of being spent in any legitimate manner, these fortunes are burdens, which can only be squandered, hoarded, put into so-called ‘benefactions’ which for the most part
constitute a menace to the State, or put back into the industrial machine to pile up ever increasing mountains of gold. We have, according to income tax returns, forty-four families with an income of $1,000,000 or more, whose members perform little or no useful
service, but whose aggregate incomes, totaling at the very least fifty millions a year, are the equivalent to the earnings of 100,000 wage earners at the average rate of $500.”

These excerpts from “Labor’s Untold Story” by Boyer and Morais, currently in print

        • IceTrey

Having no idea of just how much they are being manipulated pretty much confirms my comment.

          • Steve Rusk

            That’s right.

        • Bryan Shepard

It is about being smart, not “school smart” but inherently intelligent and able to see truth. People have access to enormous amounts of information. You literally have to be stupid (naive, ignorant, lazy, etc.) to not educate yourself on the underlying fact that our government is corrupt.

People that watch the news everyday may have college degrees, they could be doctors, lawyers, but they are not “smart” in the sense that this country needs.

We need revolutionaries, free thinkers.. not more sheep.

          • Stu Kriegermeier

Intelligence and knowledge are not the same thing. This is what you and others mean by book smart/school smart or street smart. Knowledge is information, intelligence is how you process the information

          • Bryan Shepard

Of course they aren’t the same. That’s exactly what my comment already stated in a different format.

            General society lacks both unfortunately.

          • Stu Kriegermeier

            Agreed.

Its not really about being ‘smart.’ Most people in life are occupied by just that, life. Kids. Job. Partner. Bills. Most absorb the ‘media’ in passing. What the media has figured out is even in passing, if anyone hears the same storyline over and over, they believe it. To the average Joe, considering the media controlling your way of life is something out of a SyFy, not reality. ‘They don’t really do that.’ “They” do indeed have the power to tell all of us what to think.

      • Mace

        Precisely.
There’s a passage in 1984 that deals with keeping the Proles busy, too busy to become educated and aware that things are shitty.

  • Yes, having a media that is completely controlled by just a few families will invariably lead to those same families pushing their own agenda.

Next on the list for the Oligarchy, your Internet. Say goodbye to net neutrality and “fake” news sites, the Chinese Internet is coming to the US!

YUP! you’re correct these EVIL Anti-American> NLP Anchors are Weaponized … Their Criminal Deflection Blaming Others to Hide their Bad Behavior … is a Over Used Tavistock Social Engineering Technique we’re all onto … Narcissist like these NLP Anchors Shift the Blame and Guilt to Others …

This morning Joe show is like Fakestream > CNN and all Anchor people are called “”ANCHORS”” for a reason … NLPer will seek to do two things—elicit and anchor.

Eliciting a viewers state of mind happens …happens when an NLPer uses leading and language to engineer an emotional state—for instance, hunger.

Once a state has been elicited, the NLPer can then anchor it with a physical cue—for instance, touching your shoulder.

In theory, if done right, the NLPer can then call up the hungry state any time they touch your shoulder in the same way. It’s conditioning, plain and simple.

how to “Not” get controlled by NLP

      1. Be extremely wary of people copying your body language.
      2. Move your eyes in random and unpredictable patterns.
      3. Do not let anybody touch you.
      4. Be wary of vague language.
      5. Be wary of permissive language
      6. Be wary of gibberish
      7. Read between the lines.
      8. Watch your attention.
      9. Don’t agree to anything.

When shown a random photo, the average person will tend to believe most whatever they are told is occurring within said photo, even when what they are being told is a blatant lie.
Moreover, “its far, far easier to shamelessly lie to people, than it is to get them to realize that they have been lied to.”
Few people have the time, opportunity, or inclination, to even bother to check on what they are told, it is so much easier to be mentally lazy, & many have been taught/trained to let others do their thinking for them….
(I could vent reams of angry dialogue about the MSM, but my ongoing feelings of disgusted outrage whilst noticing the endless, evolving, parade of horrifying stupidity, since the late seventies, would be largely pointless)…..

Okay folks, I completely agree with every aspect of this piece accept the chosen target. I watch Morning Joe consistently. Mika allows herself to get cut off mid-sentence quite often. She pauses at very inopportune times in an attempt to compose her finishing thoughts. Joe always steps in before she has a chance to finish. Her frustration is quite apparent at times. Knowing her style and views, on this one I would give her the benefit of the doubt in that she was most likely going to end her thought with “that is our job… (to make sure that he isn’t successful…). Though the message of this article is dead on. I do disagree with the level that this has reached within the FOX, Breitbart, and InfoWars side of fake or manufactured news. Not much of a story here. Right message, wrong target… Though I think that there are more concrete ways of getting the message out. It’s time to get to the root of the problem. It’s the global elitists that censor what the lowly newscasters are allowed to report on. Left or right, media or congress, they are all sponsored by the same handful of people that use the rest of as cheap labor in the factories and pawns on the battlefield. We are unorganized fools.

Your observation about her “Freudian slip” is absolutely correct. In addition, I am more skeptical of The Free Thought Project for manufacturing a plot by the media than I am of the media itself. Conspiracy theories provide more drama than ordinary journalists just doing their jobs, but conspiracies exist, almost exclusively, in works of fiction. The real world is much more mundane.

She’s the daughter of Zbigniew Brezinski, founder, along with Rockfeller, of Trilateral Commission. Then they have Andrea Mitchell, wife of ex-Fed chair during Alan Greenspan, the banksters run the world and they also created and direct the CIA, NSA, and so on and so forth. FOX is run by Rupert Murdoch, a business partner with Lord Jacob Rothschild. They are invested in Genie Energy and are err tracking in Golan Heights, See the pattern.

Yep.That’s Israel’s motive for supporting the terrorists in Syria. They wat more Syrian land, hopefully with oil, like Golan.

  • Obviously…

The media, as people, are just as predisposed to certain cultural positions they don’t even realize within themselves, thereby changing our culture in how it presents information. In this country, conservative, white, Protestant culture and ideology have always been the “stable” background by which change, represented in the media, is judged by.
