Police are So Scared of Jury Nullification they Defy Judge’s Order and Unlawfully Removed Activists

Denver, CO — For the first time ever, the topic of jury nullification has become a trending national news story, thanks to the aggression of an overzealous police department.

Jury nullification activists have gathered near a Denver courthouse in recent weeks, hoping to inform jurors and other citizens about nullifying unjust laws.

When they were met with resistance from the police, a federal judge granted an injunction, stating that the activists had the right to hand out jury nullification literature.

However, on Wednesday morning, police defied the judge’s order and removed a tent that the activists placed in front of the courthouse.

For those who don’t know, jury nullification is the right for any juror to not only judge the facts of the case but also to judge the validity of the law itself. If a jury feels that a defendant is facing an unjust charge, they have the right to rule in the defendant’s favor, even if they are technically guilty under the court’s standards.

Federal and individual state governments are terrified about this concept becoming mainstream as it could lead to radical change in regards to victimless ‘crimes’.

Immediately after the police tore down the activist’s encampment, civil rights attorney David Lane filed a motion accusing Denver Police Chief Robert White of contempt of court because his agency violated the federal court order.

According to the paperwork that Lane filed, the police confiscated over 1000 pamphlets, several signs, and other operational gear such as a shade tent, a table, chairs and various other items.

The terms of the original order said that the activists were free to hand out literature, but not trample the grass or set up any permanent structures.

The activists and the police disagreed as to whether or not the shade tent was a permanent structure. Lane says that even if the police did have the right to take the shade tent, which they did not, they still would not have the right to take the literature.

Lane and the jury nullification activists are currently awaiting the judge’s decision on the recent complaint that they filed.

Think about, they’re probably going to be hearing about whatever’s happening in court from a bias mainstream media outlet that will frame the incident in their own way. And I’m sure most of us know that people buy into whatever bullshit they hear from media or otherwise.

    • If I am a defendant, and found out that people were going to be praying on their decision rather than using logic from the evidence shown, they would be on the short list to be dismissed. Religion has no place in court.

  • Jury nullification occurs in a trial when a jury acquits a defendant, even though the members of the jury may believe that the defendant did the illegal act, yet they don’t believe he should be punished for it. This may occur when members of the jury disagree with the law the defendant has been charged with breaking, or believe that the law should not be applied in that particular case. A jury can similarly unjustly and illegally convict a defendant on the ground of disagreement with an existing law, even if no law is broken (although in jurisdictions with double jeopardy rules, a conviction can be overturned on appeal, but an acquittal cannot).

    • How? I never heard of that

    • Well obviously it is illegal what I’m discussing that they might do, but that doesn’t stop them. We have a right to exercise jury nullification just like we have a right to do a lot of things. But legal or not if we do something they don’t like they will find 1 million ways to harrass us. But what jury nullification does is it takes the power away from them the players of the game and puts it back in our hands. They don’t like that and of course they’ll target you in a wide variety of ways. I know of one person who has lost their house, they lost their bank account, they’ve lost a whole bunch of other stuff to either asset forfeiture during illegal raids or having to liquidate trying to legally defend themselves against frivolous charges. Jury tampering being one of them. Now it’s a courageous soul that stands up against them, my warning is it doesnt come without costs.
