A video posted to facebook Wednesday, shows an aggressive police officer using an apparently excessive amount of force to deal with a seemingly intoxicated baseball fan.
The video was uploaded by facebook user, Patrick Benson, who identifies the man being assaulted in the video is his friend Alex.
Allegedly the police were claiming that some of the members of this group were drinking under age. They began requesting IDs.
At this point Benson turns on the camera and begins filming his friend Alex. Alex asks if he can speak with the officer and he is then ordered to sit down.
When Alex does not immediately comply with this arbitrary ‘order’ he is shoved several times by this officer and then placed in hand cuffs.
The arresting officer then states that, “All he had to do was shut up and he would have left.”
While Alex is obnoxious, from what we can see in the video, he certainly didn’t deserve the level of force that was applied to him by this officer.
As the detainment continues he begins to rant about his rights as an American. However, had he truly known those rights he may have never been on the ground in cuffs in the first place.
We encourage people to stand up for their rights against abusive police officers, but in order to do so, you have to know HOW.
