“The short memories of the American voters is what keeps our politicians in office.”
― Will Rogers
The Russian invasion of Ukraine is horrific. Russian president Vladimir Putin is a thug who is committing war crimes and who is killing innocent Ukrainians while endangering the people of Russia — all the while threatening nuclear war. While this war is not near American soil, because of the United States’ involvement in NATO and its relationship with Ukraine, it most certainly affects all Americans.
US sanctions on Russia have helped to drive oil prices up over 25 percent in just the last week. Also last week, Biden told the American people they need to be ready to pay for this new war without a single one of them volunteering to pay for this war.
“Defending freedom will have costs for us as well, here at home,” Biden said. “We need to be honest about that.”
These things most assuredly affect the lives of millions of Americans and this war deserves coverage in the media. And the media is certainly not skimping on providing round-the-clock coverage either.
That being said, given the track record of US media, and their tendency to deceive the American public to get them to accept wars for profit, we shouldn’t be so quick to let down our guard and unquestioningly absorb the constant barrage of information coming from them.
If the mainstream press actually cared about reporting on horrific wars, rest assured that we’d be talking about how Israel killed Palestinians last week, during a skirmish over a brutal invasion which has lasted decades.
If the mainstream press actually cared about war crimes, they would be reporting on the 23,000 airstrikes that have been launched by the US-backed coalition in Yemen that has killed over 18,000 civilians, starving hundreds of thousands more, mostly children, and displaced millions, including 20,000 children in just the last two months.
If mainstream press cared about attacks on foreign countries by outside invaders, rest assured they would have mentioned your tax dollars being used this week to bomb Somalia.
But they do not, so they did not.
Do not mistake these comparisons as some “whataboutism” as these wars are currently taking place and are equally, if not more brutal, and all of which affect Americans just like Ukraine. The above examples are to prove that the Western corporate press is able to steer the attention of citizens to certain stories, while distracting from others.
On top of ignoring the myriad wars abroad, the mainstream media has taken to ignoring the tyranny here at home as well. Have we forgotten that politicians, all claiming to “follow the science,” locked us down, destroyed the economy, decimated the middle class through inflation, forcibly medicated us, and muzzled our children over the last two years?
Where is the accountability for the folks who advocated these things? Are we to forget about the two weeks to flatten the curve that turned into rampant police brutality for non-compliance, tens of thousands of closed businesses, vaccine passports, and record child suicides?
No, we are not. Unfortunately, however, like Will Rogers said, Americans have short memories and this new crisis is helping to wipe clean their concerns about the previous one. As restrictions are lifted and vaccines proven ineffective for children — who were mandated to take them — all these folks are sneaking out the back door thanks to the smokescreen thrown up by the corporate press.
Just before the Ukrainian invasion took place, the narrative was collapsing and people were waking up. We were told that masks never worked, the vaccines were failing, lockdowns did nothing but cause suffering, and schools should have never closed — by the very same people who, for two years, claimed the exact opposite.

Do they all get a pass now?
We have been censored into oblivion for the last two years with countless individuals and independent media having been wiped from all of Big Tech’s platforms for saying the things that are all now being proven to be correct.
Where is the accountability? Where are the “factchecks” for the mainstream? And where the hell is Fauci?
Accountability will never come. Neither will the factchecks. And as for Fauci, he is a weapon that is no longer needed in the battle against your freedom. The new weapon is in the room and his name is Putin, and whether or not he knows it, everything he does in the near future, will be weaponized against you, to get you to comply. And as covid has shown us, most people will comply with just about anything they deem necessary.
