Wilmington, N.C. — At a rally in North Carolina for the GOP hopeful Donald Trump on Tuesday, the presidential candidate said some words that have people up in arms. During a rant on gun rights, Trump implied that “2nd Amendment Folks” could shoot Hillary Clinton to stop her from naming Supreme Court justices.
“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the 2nd Amendment,” Trump told the crowd in Wilmington. “By the way, and if she gets to pick if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the 2nd Amendment people, maybe there is. I don’t know.”
Hillary Clinton is a criminal, and for her crimes, she deserves to be held accountable. Also, the 2nd Amendment shall not be infringed. However, what Donald Trump is alluding to in the video below is essentially the removal of due process through assassination.
While many people stuck in the partisan divide will undoubtedly defend Trump’s statement, it is important to recognize that his statement was made with the presumption that after Hillary is elected, she will get to choose supreme court judges that will uphold Gun Control measures. The key word being *AFTER* But, how exactly will those “2nd Amendment folks” be able to do something about it after she is elected?
As Trump decries the violence against police officers in the United States, he apparently cares not about violent insurrection aimed at taking out his political rivals.
After he made this statement, Clinton’s main Super PAC, Priorities USA, immediately denounced Trump.
“Donald Trump Just Suggested That Someone Shoot Hillary Clinton,” the group’s spokesman Justin Barasky said in an email to reporters. “THIS IS NOT OK.”
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) also responded to Donald Trump’s 2nd Amendment comments.
Don't treat this as a political misstep. It's an assassination threat, seriously upping the possibility of a national tragedy & crisis.

Of course, while conducting damage control for his campaign, Trump’s senior media advisor, Jason Miller, insisted that Trump was referring only to political action by gun-rights supporters, and he assailed media coverage of the remark, releasing what he called a “statement on dishonest media” after the rally, according to the LA Times.
“It’s called the power of unification — 2nd Amendment people have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power,” it said. “And this year, they will be voting in record numbers, and it won’t be for Hillary Clinton, it will be for Donald Trump.”
The NRA also jumped to Trump’s defense after the comments as well — which is particularly ironic given their silence on Philando Castile’s gun rights.

Either way you slice it, Trump’s remarks in the video below are highly irresponsible given the current hostile climate in the country today. A single off the cuff comment like this could’ve pushed someone on the verge of violently snapping, over the edge.
When listening to the crowd’s reaction after he made the statement, it becomes perfectly clear how people interpreted what he said.
