If you turn on your television right now and switch to any of the mainstream media hot air networks, you will likely come across some Democrat blowhard berating president Donald Trump for standing against the sentence of Roger Stone. You will also come across some Right Wing blowhard arguing for Roger Stone to be pardoned. In the meantime, both parties are completely in line with extraditing Julian Assange — a journalist — to the United States to be prosecuted.

For those who may be out of the sh*t show loop that is the U.S. Government, Stone is slated to be sentenced next week on his conviction for lying to congressional investigators about his efforts to procure damaging information about Hillary Clinton from WikiLeaks and pass them on to the Trump campaign. He was also convicted of threatening a witness and urging him not to testify truthfully to lawmakers.

It was not the procurement of information from Julian Assange and WikiLeaks on which prosecutors went after Stone, it was because he was accused and later convicted of lying to investigators repeatedly and intimidating a witness. These are crimes of which Assange has never even been accused.

Nevertheless, Trump and the right wing are outspoken about the alleged mistreatment of Stone while remaining entirely silent on and continue the persecution of, Julian Assange.

At nearly 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Trump randomly posted a tweet criticizing career Justice Department prosecutors for recommending a nine-year prison sentence for his former advisor Roger Stone. "This is a horrible and very unfair situation. The real crimes were on the other side, as nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!" the president wrote.

Trump's tweets prompted an unusual response from his own Attorney General Bill Barr, claiming that the president's ranting on Twitter is making it "impossible for me to do my job." This left vs. right tennis match continued to unfold on Thursday as Democrats then claimed Trump's comments on Stone are worse than what he was impeached over. Meanwhile, they are completely ignoring all the actual reasons on which Trump could've been impeached. For example, invading countries on false pretenses, engineering coups to overthrow democratically elected governments in foreign countries, sending weapons to the largest state sponsor of terror in the world, or massively increasing the surveillance state—all of which is provable. As these fat cats in their taxpayer funded marble buildings continue to wage their dog and pony show propaganda against the American people, real heroes, whose actions have exposed actual criminals, shed light on the surveillance state, and given Americans a glimpse into the horrors of war, like Chelsea Manning, Julian Assange, and Edward Snowden, are rotting in prison or exiled while pardons are doled out to murderers. A travesty, indeed. As TFTP reported last April, several men in black suits, surrounded by a dozen cops, raided the Ecuadorian embassy in London and kidnapped Julian Assange. Moments later, the Department of Justice released a statement charging Assange with computer hacking "conspiracy" for allegedly working with US Army soldier at the time, Chelsea Manning. According to the DOJ, Assange's roll in the alleged conspiracy with Manning was encouraging her to provide more information—something that any journalist worth their salt would be doing. This move has amounted to little more than the blatant criminalization of journalism.

Not only did Trump refuse to step in and pardon one of the the key players whose information leaks arguably led to him winning the presidency but he went on the offensive against him.

Shortly after being kidnapped from the Embassy at the behest of the Trump administration's Department of Justice, a kangaroo court was setup to railroad the journalist.

Since then, Assange has been rotting in solitary confinement as his health drastically deteriorated. “Unless the UK urgently changes course and alleviates his inhumane situation, Mr. Assange’s continued exposure to arbitrariness and abuse may soon end up costing his life,” the UN special rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, Nils Melzer, said in a statement in October. That was more than 4 months ago and nothing has changed. Dozens of other doctors have issued a warning that if Assange's conditions do not drastically improve and proper medical care given, this hero for freedom could die in prison.

Make no mistake, if true lovers of freedom win this battle of information, Julian Assange will go down in history as one the most important figures in exposing tyrants and aiding in the fight for liberty and justice. Yet the left and the right are showing their true colors by continuously calling for his blood.

Assange now faces extradition to the United States where he will be further prosecuted for "conspiracy" for doing nothing other than exposing war crimes of the West.

Julian Assange is a hero. His actions helped to expose horrifying crimes carried out by the US government, including mowing down innocent journalists with a .50 cal. His persecution by the UK and the US is undoubtedly retaliation and punishment for exposing these crimes.

The idea that a journalist is being held in solitary confinement on a whim from this administration, and also faces the possibility of being "disappeared" in a US black site prison after his extradition, is utter insanity.

How much longer can we go down a road in which murder is celebrated and truth is prosecuted before it all comes crashing down in a hellfire of smoke and ash? My guess is, not so long....
