Conservatives using the death of Mollie Tibbetts to call for building the wall sound just like the liberals using mass shootings to push gun control.

The Left is Using Jacksonville to Push the Police State, Just Like the Right’s Doing with Mollie Tibbets

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal in 2008, just before he became the White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, famously stated, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” This incredibly telling statement sums up the “problem, reaction, solution” methodology of all those in power who seek to exploit tragedies to take away your rights.

On Sunday, a tragedy unfolded in Jacksonville, Florida when a psychopath lost a video game and took out his anger by shooting 11 people, killing two of them. Predictably, and immediately, the left began using the tragedy to push their anti-gun agenda.

The smoke had yet to clear, yet the deaths of these innocent individuals had become political fodder for a propaganda campaign against the Second Amendment. The left was and is using the philosophy from Rahm Emanuel of never letting a crisis go to waste and the right rakes them over the coals for it. But conservatives do the exact same thing.

When the tragic death of Mollie Tibbetts was revealed last week, conservatives launched a propaganda campaign to use her death to push their immigration agenda. The campaign was massive in scope and even prompted a response from the president himself who blamed the innocent young woman’s murder on not having enough laws.

“As Reynolds said, ‘our immigration system allowed a predator like this to live in our community,’” Sens. Chuck Grassley (R) and Joni Ernst (R) said in a statement. “Too many Iowans have been lost at the hands of criminals who broke our immigration laws. We cannot allow these tragedies to continue.”

Political blowhards from all across the country waged a unifying rallying cry noting that if Tibbetts’ suspect killer hadn’t been in the US, she would still be alive. No kidding.

If the shooter in Jacksonville, Florida wouldn’t have been in the US, all 11 people would have finished the video game tournament and simply gone home to their families.

The reaction from the right — as they used a tragedy to push their political agenda — was so overwhelming that Tibbetts’ family was forced to respond.

“I don’t want Mollie’s memory to get lost amongst politics,” Tibbetts’ aunt, Billie Jo Calderwood, told CNN. In a Facebook post, Calderwood noted that “Evil comes in EVERY color.”

Tibbett’s cousin went viral in her Twitter response to Candace Owens using Mollie’s death to push for stricter immigration.

Lucas, completely outraged with this statement, fired back, saying, “[W]e are not so fucking small-minded that we generalize a whole population based on some bad individuals,” she wrote at Owens. “[N]ow stop being a fucking snake and using my cousins death as political propaganda.”

During the melee, the debate got so heated, that the right failed to realize that the suspect’s lawyer said his client was actually in the United States legally, which completely deflated their claims.

This utter lack of logic applied by the right — just like the left does with guns — illustrates the appeal to emotion both sides use to get you on board with legislation they need to push their agendas: legislation that will never keep you safe.

It is the job of the political class to claim they can keep you safe. All you need to do in exchange for this safety is give up a little freedom, they say. Then, little by little, citizens continue to give up their freedom to feel a little safer and before they realize what’s going on — they’re left with neither freedom nor safety.

In regard to illegal immigration, the left and the right are at extreme odds when it comes to how to deal with those crossing over into the United States. The left wants to subsidize them using taxpayer funds while the right wants to subsidize the prison industrial complex by locking them up and creating a police state. Meanwhile, however, those of us not blinded by the political divide are looking at why people are crossing over in the first place and proposing solutions to fix it that don’t require subsidizing anyone or taking away our freedoms.

The reality of the situation is that the recent spike in immigrants coming into the United States from the Southern border are fleeing the inevitable results of the bipartisan policy carried out by multiple federal agencies on a global scale. The overwhelming majority of migrants coming from countries like El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala are fleeing violence created by the US federal government’s own war on drugs.

What’s more, the demand created by America’s war on drugs gives criminals a monopoly on the sale of drugs, creating an incentive for criminals to sneak into the country.

Until this is addressed and the drug war ended, no wall, no Constitution free zones, and no police state will ever stop the problem.

It is also important to point out a glaring fact that the right continuously misses when they call for building this wall. If a wall is massive enough and well guarded enough to keep them out, it is also massive enough and well guarded enough to keep you in.
