Cops Execute Unarmed Man as He Repeatedly Complies with 'Hands Up' Order, Despite Being Shot
Lawton, OK — Two police officers with the Lawton Police Department in Oklahoma have been fired and charged with manslaughter after they were captured on their own body cameras executing an unarmed man who continuously attempted to comply with the officers' orders to put his hands up.
The incident unfolded in December of 2021 when officers Nathan Michael Ronan and Robert Leslie Hinkle were called to investigate an alleged report of a man violating a restraining order. Moments after arriving, Ronan and Hinkle would fill Quandry Sanders with more than a dozen bullet holes.
Sanders was unarmed and had his hands in the air multiple times when he was gunned down by two of Lawton's finest.
Police body camera video showed Sanders come outside of the home following a report that he was engaged in an armed standoff with women and children in the home. As soon as he was given the chance, however, Sanders exited the home. Whether or not he actually had a gun inside the home is unclear, however, outside the home, he was entirely unarmed.
As the video shows, police ordered Sanders out of the home and he complied. He exited the back door, unarmed.
He is seen stepping out from behind a refrigerator on the back porch before raising his hands to comply with police. Sanders then moves his hat from his right to left hand before stepping back behind the refrigerator, which proved to be a fatal error.
Hinkle commanded he raise his hands and Sanders was shot with the first volley of rounds. Highlighting the disgustingly violent nature of the officers was the fact that while Sanders was on the ground, he is seen raising his right hand again before the two cops dumped even more rounds into his body.

Sanders was lying down and and trying to put his hands up while the officers continued to fire into his body. The 29-year-old Sanders would not survive the 12 bullet holes put in his body by Lawton's finest.
The shooting was so unjust that both Ronan and Hinkle were fired days later in January. They have since been arrested, booked into jail and released on $25,000 bail each.
They are both facing down years in prison after being charged with first-degree manslaughter, according to a press release from the City of Lawton.
In January of this year, Lawton City Manager terminated Ronan and Hinkle after an administrative investigation into the fatal shooting. This week, the DA filed charges against both officers:
On May 6, 2022, the Comanche County District Attorney has released their decision to file criminal charges based on the investigation conducted by the OSBI. The Comanche County District Attorney has charged both Nathan Ronan and Robert Hinkle with Manslaughter in the first degree.
“When they encountered Sanders they instructed him to put his hands up to which he complied,” Sanders family’s lawyer, S. Lee Merrittt wrote on Instagram. “While his hands were in the air Hinkle shot Sanders 4 times. When he dropped to the ground he was instructed to put his hands back [in] the air. When he did he was fired on 13 more times. This was murder. We must have justice.”
