Florida City, FL — A cowardly cop put another family pet to death on October 20, leaving a mother and her children grief-stricken.

As surveillance video shows, a Florida City police officer knocks on the front door of the unfortunate family. He was going to inform them that they left a car door open.

The daughter opens the door slightly and their dog, named Duchess, was able to get out first. The cop reaches for his gun as the 40-pound dog emerges and fires three rounds into its head without hesitation.

“She was curious. She wasn’t barking (and) she wasn’t growling. There was no reason for him to think she was aggressive in any way,” said the mother, Gillian Palacios.

The daughter comes out immediately after, and could only stand paralyzed in horror at the scene of murder. Duchess is lying on the sidewalk, still alive but fatally wounded, and the repugnant cop is out of the camera’s view.

Palacios is yelling at the cowardly cop while her daughter cradles the dying dog in her hands. Duchess can be seen wagging her tail, perhaps finding some comfort in her owner’s embrace.

The cop said “your dog charged me” and promptly left the scene, telling them Animal Services would pick up the dog later.

In his report, the cop will surely say that he “feared for his life” from the 40-pound animal. One wonders if he felt any remorse at all for his brutal actions. Instead of hesitating a bit and realizing the dog meant no harm, he put a family in shock and grief.

The department has put their officer on paid administrative leave while they investigate that matter, “gathering all the facts at the time.”

The Palacios family rescues dogs and finds homes for them, but decided to keep Duchess. A friend of the family said she was one of the sweetest dogs she has ever met.

Warning Extremely Graphic Video:

Sadly, “Police Kill Dog” is not an uncommon segment of headlines across the nation. It happens so often that it has its own category on the The Free Thought Project’s website as well as many other media outlets.

  1. This shows a terrible negligence of the dept. in their selection and training. I hope these people get a good lawyer and sue the bastards for millions!!! Because of their negligence look at the trauma these people went through. he needs fired RIGHT NOW if not jailed!!!

  2. Something has to be done about this “paid administered leave” shit. Cops are killing people, kids, dogs…old folks…you name it, and as a reward gets a long paid vacation until they are found innocent or declared to have acted reasonably. This…is not DAMNED REASONABLE!!!

  3. Who are we to say which life is more important, Are we not ALL gods creatures here. A life is a life and as suIch should be treated with respect and understanding.

  4. What a piece of human shit. I hope something horrible happens to this fucker. No one should have to cradle their spasming, dying dog after it being shot bc a coward pos cop “feared for his life” after the dog greeted him. Fuck the police.

  5. I’d trade that dogs life for the pigs any day. A dog is man’s best friend, a cop on the other hand is a parasite(a person who habitually relies on or exploits others and gives nothing in return.) Who’s only purpose is to generate revenue for the state and keep a steady supply of inmates to keep the privatized prisons over populated and profitable. More than half are in there over petty offenses anyways, all while simultaneously instigating violence and instilling fear. So yeah I think a dog’s life is worth more than the scum of the earth’s any day. ✌️

  6. YOU are wrong and your attitudes are why police abuses are RAMPANT! It is time and PAST TIME to start holding these people accountable for the BLATANT criminal actions and this was cold blooded murder and he should be executed as such.

  7. There was ZERO risk of the cop being bitten, THAT IS VERY CLEAR from the video. A wagging tail does NOT INDICATE a biting dog. and what if that bullet had missed and hit the girl as she came outside what would your EXCUSE be then? that it was the girl’s fault for answering the door? TGHIS and THOUSANDS of acts like it are swept under the rug and THAT is why they continue, WHY police abuses have INCREASED…. Time to start coming down on these assholes and coming down HARD! IMMEDIATE ARREST just as anyone else would be arrested, Publish their name, their crime, and their home address just as they do to others that are arrested.

    • That’s false, a dog wagging it’s tail does not ensure it is being friendly. You need to take Dog training classes. Seriously!! The dog was never at fault, if the dog is aggressive or not well trained it is 100% the owners fault. There is no such thing as a dumb dog, just dumb owners who take on all the responsibilities of owning a pet but not training it correctly thereafter.

      • Peter— Its actually quite true and thanks but I have trained police K-9 units in the military but MORE importantly than that is my years of socializing both feral cats AND dogs. That socializing is far more important and relevant since it is ALL about body language and knowing what moods and likelihood of behaviors you can find, when aggression or fear is present and how to tell the difference between aggression from fear, or simple aggression or in this case a small dog that is from all appearance friendly. DOGS do not wag tails when attacking or about to attack, those tails may be puffed up or not but they are still and or stiff, usually erect or in a pointing position signifying direction for any possible action to come from said animal. because they are the ready for whatever fight/flight/or chase may occur, They are alert and tense with every muscle ready to go and that includes the tail. A wagging tail also has a few meaning but they are to do with familial and pack recognition and to show submission to a superior in times of pleasure AND in stress. AND of course this was not the dogs fault, this was the fault of the trigger happy thug with a badge that thought it would be fun to execute the family pet in front of the children. That dog was totally manageable by ANY stretch of the imagination. I do however agree that owners are far more often the source of any problem animals and often results from the lack of establishing themselves as the pack leader… If you own a dog, you have to think in a pack mentality when dealing with that dog and if you own cats you have to use a pride mentality. YEARS of dealing with ferals will teach you more about animal body language and signals than any training course in he world.
