On this week’s episode of the Free Thought Project podcast, Jason and Matt talk with Stephen Ruth, aka the Red Light Robinhood. Unwilling to sacrifice innocent lives for millions of dollars in gross revenue, this nonviolent vigilante admittedly sabotaged traffic cameras in order to call attention to drastically shortened yellow lights endangering and ending several lives in his community. While facing numerous felony and misdemeanor charges for tampering with the highly profitable cameras, Ruth has risked and sacrificed his freedom to seek justice, fight tyranny and give a voice to the voiceless.
After his court appearance on Monday, Ruth gave the following statement going into court on Tuesday:
Regardless of what happens to me, I am thankful to the Judge for carefully listening to my lawyers arguments and taking this matter of great public concern so seriously. I am also thankful to my lawyers for taking on pro bono a matter for public safety.
