Long Beach, MS — A manhunt is underway after a Hancock County Sheriff’s deputy was attacked by three men in Pearlington on Monday.

According to police, deputy Todd Frazier was patrolling through a rest stop around 10 pm Monday when he came upon a parked car that appeared to have someone sleeping in the driver’s seat. As Frazier approached the car, two men allegedly came out of the nearby woods and ambushed him along with the driver.

Frazier said he fell backwards and the three men then jumped on him.

“They told him they were going to slit his throat, and they were dragging him toward the woods,” Chief Deputy Don Bass said, adding that authorities believe the attackers meant to drag Frazier into the woods, kill him, and dump his body, according to the Clarion-Ledger.

“The three of them were dragging him toward the wooded area, and he was able to break one hand free to activate the button that opens the door and it released Lucas,” Bass said.

At this point, according to police, Frazier was able to press a button and release he dog and the K-9 chased off the three attackers by biting at them.

“We don’t know how many he got, we just know he had blood all over him,” Sheriff Ricky Adam said.

Frazier then called for backup and was treated for his injuries that consisted of a cut on his forehead and multiple scrapes and bruises.

Police are now using this attack to blame those who are seeking to reduce violence within American police departments.

“It is not clear yet if the attack was related to recent threats by gangs to attack police on sight, Adam said, “but at this point in time I don’t care. This kind of attitude has been prevailing in Washington for the last six years and now it’s coming home to roost, and we’re the targets.”

Adams told the Clarion-Ledger that he is preparing for the worst.

“We’ve been stressing this for months and months now. It’s no different from last week we get a BOLO from the state alerting us that the Black Gangster Disciples have put out an SOS, or ‘Shoot on Sight’ for police officers,” he said. “For a couple of months we’ve been preaching safety because we knew our location between New Orleans and on the I-10 corridor… it’s going to happen here.”

Attacking a person who has done nothing to you is a cowardice move whether you are an officer or a citizen.

Those of us who devote time and energy to holding government and law enforcement accountable, do so because we abhor injustice and strive for peace. Killing innocent people is not peaceful.

We’ve seen attempts in the past, as in the case of  Antonio Buehler, of an actual police department trying to smear peaceful activists by grouping them into some “Domestic Extremist Group.”

This type of guilt by association is an obvious attempt to push government accountability into some type of fringe societal element, thereby making peaceful people look like monsters.

This tactic is old, mostly ineffective, and an insult to the person(s) killed or attacked by capitalizing on violence for political gain. However, it does tend to work on the less informed individuals in society. That is why it is up to us to maintain professionalism and remain outspoken about the PEACEFUL manner in which we wish to incite change.

Violence is most assuredly not the answer. Violently attacking the government creates victims out of the ones we are trying to expose as criminals.

Those who initiate and support such violence will be complicit in creating the hellish police state that will inevitably ensue as a consequence of these actions.
