Dr. Patrick Newman is a Fellow at the Mises Institute, he is also an assistant professor of economics at Florida Southern College. He completed his PhD in economics at George Mason University.

This week were excited to speak with him about his new book "Cronyism: Liberty versus Power in Early America, 1607-1849," which hit #1 on the Amazon political history chart. We discuss why cronyism increased and declined throughout American history, what party was the most irresponsible with lobbying, the history of lobbying, how to source accurate historical documents, misinformation regarding regulations, what mainstream economics gets right and wrong, the benefits of revisionist history, the differences between Jeffersonian Republicans and Jacksonian Democrats and why research is one of our most valuable tools.
