Brian Williams, disgraced former NBC Nightly News anchor, is speaking out about the so-called “fake news” sites which, according to the left, are responsible for reporting disinformation. It must be noted, at this point, The Free Thought Project is ostensibly considered one such site. As TFTP’s Matt Agorist proclaimed, “we’ve worn it as a badge of honor since we were first made aware of,” the list.
Why Williams would wander into the fray of discussion of fake news, and fake websites, is anybody’s guess, as he himself may be the most recognizable purveyor of fake news stories. Williams’ embellishment of his journalistic war record earned him the castigation of his employer, and an indefinite suspension from his network news anchor chair.
Stars and Stripes first broke the news of Williams’ embellishment. On January 30th, 2015, the veteran NBC news anchor told the listening audience (just the entire world) he’d come under heavy attack while covering the Gulf War in Iraq.
Williams said, “The story actually started with a terrible moment a dozen years back during the invasion of Iraq when the helicopter we were traveling in was forced down after being hit by an RPG,” Williams said during the broadcast. “Our traveling NBC News team was rescued, surrounded and kept alive by an armor mechanized platoon from the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry.”
It was a story he’d reportedly repeated for many years. But in 2015, the result was different. That was the year the soldiers who’d been traveling with Williams, on that fateful day, got a wee bit fed up with his bold faced lie, and blew the whistle.
Stars and Stripes contacted several veterans who were with Williams that day in Iraq, and they remembered it quite differently than the mainstream media’s talking head. According to Stars and Stripes, “crew members on the 159th Aviation Regiment’s Chinook that was hit by two rockets and small arms fire told Stars and Stripes that the NBC anchor was nowhere near that aircraft or two other Chinooks flying in the formation that took fire. Williams arrived in the area about an hour later on another helicopter after the other three had made an emergency landing, the crew members said.”
After getting called out for being a habitual liar, the Stars and Stripes reported Williams changed his tune and became quite apologetic, telling the news organization, “I would not have chosen to make this mistake,” he said, adding, “I don’t know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another.”

As if anyone could possibly 'mistake' being shot down by rockets in a helicopter.
In February of 2015, Williams told the NBC Nightly News listening audience he’d “bungled” the story and added, “I made a mistake in recalling the events of 12 years ago…I want to apologize.” The apology was accepted by NBC Nightly News, and Williams was suspended without pay for six months.
The mainstream media, which is so indignant with the recently published list of “fake news” sites and stories, decided to suspend their beloved anchor's salary for only six months, leading many (including members of The Free Thought Project) to wonder how he was allowed to return to work at MSNBC, after lying to the American people by repeating, over and over again, a fake news story.
This week, Williams, in his new role as anchor at MSNBC, chose to go after retired general Michael Flynn (Trump's choice for National Security Adviser) for retweeting so-called “fake news” stories on his Twitter account. He said Flynn, “has passed on some gems,” and pointed to a tweet Ret. Gen. Flynn issued which claimed the Clintons were involved in child sex trafficking, had secretly waged war on the Catholic Church, and that Obama was a “jihadi” who had laundered money for Muslim terrorists. Williams said, “Fake news played a role in this election and continues to find a wide audience.” Then the veteran news anchor quoted a Buzzfeed news story which stated a majority of the fake news stories had their origin with Breitbart News.
For those free thinkers who know what’s really going on, TFTP doesn’t need to explain. But for those who still haven’t figured it all out, Williams, the mainstream media, and their pundits are using their position and authority as network news entities in a miserable, sore-loser attempt to sway President-elect Donald Trump’s picks for his administration. Much like they attempted to do to the American people during the campaign, leading up to the election (they failed by the way), they’re once again using crafty terms like “alt-right,” “alt-media,” and now “fake news”, to target individuals for removal whom challenge the status quo. Their attack knows no party either as they are going after both left and right.
Unfortunately, for the mainstream media, the American people are waking up to their shenanigans, and are now very much aware of their modus operandi.
